This four-hour live online course helps both new and experienced managers understand and manage the budgeting process from start to finish. Participants will learn practical tools for building, presenting, and defending a budget, as well as proven staffing formulas to help justify personnel needs within their department.

- How funds are allocated (taxes, millage rates, etc.)
- Staffing formulas to identify shortfalls
- Monitoring and managing budgets effectively
- Factors impacting budgets: calls, special programs, demographics
- Presenting a budget to superiors, elected officials, and the public
- Overtime estimates and projections—calculate trends and forecast within 5% accuracy
