911 Operators and Dispatchers perform a complex and very stressful function.
Communication Center personnel often play a vital role in ensuring the safety of others – not just for callers but also the officers on the street. These dedicated professionals are action-oriented people who work in a very stress filled environment. Unfortunately, the critical role they play is often misunderstood by administrators, officers and citizens.
This ONLINE Class will present a reality-based picture of the Comm Center and provide students with a firsthand look at the stress and trauma associated with 911 Comm Center Personnel.
From stress on the job, multiple calls holding, critical incidents, making quick decisions, feeling like a “second class member” of a team, comes a low sense of control, a lack of training, a high level of responsibility, and little chance for promotions. These factors are all combined with a work environment that adds stress to your home life (including relationships), working holidays, time away from family, emotional feelings, lack of time for exercise or eating a healthy diet.
This class will provide tools and skills needed to develop a personal plan for resiliency and how to help co-workers when a crisis hits home!
TARGET AUDIENCE: All members of the criminal justice community. Training is especially valuable for 911 Operators, Dispatchers, emergency response personnel and anyone associated with a Comm. Center in a working or supervisory capacity.
