Social Media Investigations

Course Description

This class is designed for law enforcement, investigators, and other public safety professionals seeking to enhance their ability to conduct investigations using social media. In today’s digital age, social media platforms have become powerful tools for gathering intelligence, tracking suspects, locating missing persons, and collecting evidence.

Participants will explore best practices in identifying and utilizing publicly available information across multiple platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), Snapchat, and others. The course will cover how criminals use these platforms to conduct illegal activities and how investigators can legally and ethically monitor, document, and preserve digital evidence.

This training will provide a hands-on look at techniques used to identify user profiles, monitor online behavior, and conduct background checks using digital footprints.
